Cylindrical Lithium Cells
A cylindrical cell is a lithium-ion cell in a round metal can. It is the most common cell format in packs for power tools, e-bikes, portable devices and energy storage. Jetray supplies cylindrical cells and builds them into custom packs.

What the size code means
The first two digits are the diameter in millimeters, the next two or three are the length in tenths of a millimeter, and the final 0 means a round cell.
Other sizes, such as 10450, 14250, 18500, 32140 and 4680, are used for particular products. Ask us for the size you need.
Capacity or current: pick one first
Cells are made either for energy (high capacity, lower current) or for power (higher current, lower capacity). A tool or e-bike that pulls high current needs a power cell. A device that runs for hours at low load needs an energy cell. Choose from the maximum continuous current in the datasheet, not from the capacity number alone.

Chemistry
Most cylindrical Li-ion cells use NMC or NCA chemistry for high energy. LiFePO4 cylindrical cells are used where stability and cycle life matter more than energy.
Protected or bare cells
Bare cells have no circuit. For a device, the cells go into a pack with a BMS and, where needed, a fuse and temperature sensing. Never use loose cells directly in a device without protection.

Choosing a size
Brands
We supply cylindrical cells from Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Molicel and EVE.
Safety and storage
- Do not mix cells of different brands, capacities or ages in one pack.
- Store cells partly charged, in a cool and dry place.
- Do not carry loose cells in a way that lets the terminals touch metal.
- Never charge a cell without a charger and protection that suit it.

Order size, documents and delivery
Send the model or the specification you need and the quantity. We confirm the cell, the lead time and the documents. UN38.3 and MSDS documents are available. We ship worldwide from Shenzhen.

Series and parallel naming
A pack code such as 13S4P means 13 cells in series and 4 in parallel. Series adds voltage. Parallel adds capacity and current.
Tabs and welding
Cells are joined by spot-welding nickel strips to the terminals. Welding is quick and keeps heat low, but weld quality and strip size decide how much current the pack carries. We weld to the current of your device.
Frequently asked questions
They differ in size. A 21700 is larger and holds more energy per cell. The better choice depends on your space and current.
No. Use matched cells from the same model and batch in one pack.
Send your quantity and application. We confirm what we can supply.
Yes. We build custom packs with BMS and enclosure. Custom battery solutions
We provide the datasheet for the cell model we quote.
The positive terminal shape. Flat top is common in welded packs. Button top is used where cells go into holders.
Only with the right equipment and training. Wrong welding can damage the cell. We build the pack for you.
Send the tab type and length, and we confirm.
