Lithium Packs to Replace Lead-Acid Batteries
A lithium replacement pack can take the place of a lead-acid battery if the voltage, size, terminals and charging match. Jetray builds custom LiFePO4 packs to the dimensions and connectors of the battery you are replacing.

Why people replace lead-acid with lithium
Less upkeep
No watering or topping up.
Weight
A lithium pack is lighter for the same energy.
Usable capacity
More of the rated energy can be used.
Charging
Lithium accepts faster charging and short top-ups.
Steady voltage
Equipment keeps its power as the battery empties.
Lithium costs more at the start. Whether it pays back depends on how hard and how often the equipment works.
What must match
Where we build replacements
UPS and backup power
Forklifts
Golf carts
Telecom backup
RVs and vans
AGVs and floor machines

What we can set
Documents, order size and delivery
UN38.3, IEC 62133 and MSDS documents are available. MOQ depends on the product, and energy storage products can be supplied even in a few units. Custom packs usually take one to two months, and items in stock ship without waiting. Custom battery pack samples are charged. We ship worldwide from Shenzhen.
Matching the voltage class
A lead-acid cell is about 2 V nominal. A LiFePO4 cell is about 3.2 V nominal. The pack is built so the total voltage lands in the same class.
Check your equipment's allowed voltage range, since a lithium pack's voltage is a little higher when full.
Sizing the capacity
Energy in watt-hours is voltage times amp-hours. A simple way to size:
- 01
Add up the load in watts and the hours you need.
- 02
Multiply to get watt-hours. For example, a 500 W load for 4 hours needs 2,000 Wh.
- 03
Add margin for age, cold and peak loads.
- 04
Divide by the pack voltage to get amp-hours.
A lead-acid battery is often not discharged fully, so the label capacity and the usable capacity differ. Lithium gives more of its rating, so a smaller lithium pack can sometimes do the same work. We check this on your duty.
Charging differences
- Lead-acid chargers may use equalizing or float modes that do not suit lithium.
- LiFePO4 is charged to a set voltage and then held or stopped. The BMS protects the cells.
- Some systems have a lithium setting. Others need a new charger.
- A solar controller must be set to the lithium profile.
We supply a matching charger, or set the pack for your charging system.

Series and parallel use
Do not connect lithium packs with different capacity or age in one bank. If you need more capacity, tell us the layout so we build the packs and BMS for parallel or series use.
Frequently asked questions
Often yes, if voltage, size, terminals and charger match. Send the old battery's details and we confirm on a sample.
Usually. Lead-acid and lithium use different charging profiles. We supply a matching charger.
It should run the same or better, since lithium holds voltage as it empties. We test a sample on your equipment first.
No. Replace the whole battery set and the charger together.
Yes. Private label is supported.
Usually yes, for the same energy. Weight depends on capacity and case.
A lead-acid gauge reads voltage and may misread lithium. Tell us if you use one, and we can set communication or advise on a gauge.
No. Replace the whole set and the charger together.
