Battery Packs for Mobile Medical Robots
A mobile medical robot works in corridors, wards and labs, and has to keep running between charges. Jetray builds custom lithium packs for hospital delivery, disinfection and telepresence robots, with docking charge and data to the robot controller.
What these robots need from a battery
- 01Run time through a round. The robot should finish its route and dock, not stop in a corridor.
- 02Quiet, safe charging. The pack charges in or near patient areas, so protection matters.
- 03Auto-docking. Charge contacts at the dock let the robot charge without staff.
- 04Data to the controller. Charge level, current and faults help the robot plan.
- 05Low noise and low heat. Hospitals prefer quiet, cool machines.
Robot types and the pack
Voltage and capacity come from the robot's motors and electronics. Send the average and peak power and the run time you want. AGV packs →
What we can set

- Cells LiFePO4 for stability and many cycles, Li-ion for light robots. Cell options include Panasonic, Samsung, LG, Molicel and EVE. Cell selection →
- BMS protection against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuit and high temperature. BMS design →
- Communication CAN, UART, RS485 and Bluetooth, set to your requirement. Charger and communication →
- Charger and dock a matching charger. Contact layouts can be matched to your dock, and we can supply the dock contacts.
- Enclosure plastic or sheet metal, IP65 as our usual level and other levels on request, so cleaning wipe-downs are not a concern. Enclosure design →
Documents and delivery

UN38.3, IEC 62133 and MSDS documents are available, with transport and certification reports for the shipment. Medical device rules depend on your robot and market, and we do not claim a medical quality-system certificate. Custom packs usually take one to two months. Custom battery pack samples are charged. What to agree before a medical robot battery project
Run time between charges
Decide if the robot recharges at a dock, between tasks or by swapping.
Noise and space
Hospital corridors and rooms limit size and weight. Confirm the pack space.
Fault reporting
The robot should know charge level and faults. Agree the protocol early.
Safe charging
Docks and cables near patients need a safe design. Share the charging plan.
Documents
Confirm which test and transport documents your customer needs.
